Reingold Litigation(s)
What is the final judgment?

*As of January 15th, 2024
Should we appeal?
Our recommendation is no appeal. Please see our summary video for our reasoning.
Won’t insurance cover the damages?
We are investigating this question. There are a variety of complex factors, and a variety of paths for financial recoveries.
How can we pay for it? Aren’t the increases and Special Assessments way higher than what the HOA needs?
This question is moot. On Wednesday, January 17th, the Board voted to proceed with payment of the judgment with a combination of cash on hand and financing. Rather than large special assessments, the monthly assessments will increase temporarily by a total of $125 to refill the reserves and pay down the debt.
Additionally the Board agreed to lower the Reserve target from 100% to 70%, thus reducing the amount we need to refill the reserves as per our financial summary.
What about the interest on financing? What if I want to just pay my share of the assessments up front instead of over time?
We advocated to the Board to allow for the option to pay your share of the Assessments up-front. We are waiting to see implementation details.
Long-Term Reforms
How can we end the public fighting, insults, and threats of lawsuits?
We’re grateful to say the Board meeting on January 17th, 2024 was a great step in the right direction. This public discussion has helped us all find some common ground on which to proceed through the immediately urgent challenges we face.
How can we ensure ANY Board is working in our interest?
It begins with your own civic engagement. We welcome input from all Members. We plan to launch an eBallot system which will allow us to poll verified Members. Hearing all Member input in an objective format will give us all a shared understanding of the different perspectives. The majority won’t always be right, and the minority won’t always be left behind. These polls will just help us to hear each other peacefully as we make decisions together.
What if BCA is hit with more lawsuits? How can we avoid these liabilities regardless of who is on the Board?
We plan to participate in a Root Cause Analysis to identify the sources of liabilities and recommend restructuring to reduce our risk profile.
Bell Canyon Member Task Force (BCMTF)
Who is this Task Force?
The Bell Canyon Member Task Force is a grass-roots organization who formed after intransigent Board meetings related to the Reingold litigation matters. We invite all Bell Canyon Association Members to sign up and share your input. We’ll be launching eBallots and other features to communicate official responses from the Membership base on current and future matters in the Bell Canyon community.
Are you just here to make money?
This Task Force is a volunteer grass-roots group who charges $0 to participate. We have gone out of pocket to assemble, and invested considerable time away from our families and businesses. Our only goals are as stated on this site.
Can I start my own group?
Absolutely. We’ll support the best ideas for the community regardless of who suggests them. You’re also free to submit your input to us and we’ll consider it.
